A Year of Laundry Detergent

Yup, I bought a years worth of laundry detergent this week. Well, as long as my math and estimations are right it should last us about 21.33 months. If I had just gone to the store and bought one of these bottles as we needed them it would end up costing us $72. I spent a whopping $16.99 for them and that includes the cost of buying the coupons that I also used.

I still have some bottles in the laundry room from the last time I stocked up so we really are set for a year and I won't have to worry about laundry detergent for months. I tried to think ahead a bit as our washer and dryer are dying a slow death though we are hoping that they last at least another year. Just in case the washer does give out on us for good and we get a new one I made sure that some of the bottles are HE so I will use those last.

Who loves pasta?

Hopefully my family does because today I bought 20 boxes.

Kroger is having a Mega Sale and if you buy 8 participating items they take $4 off your total. Including the $4 off the Ronzoni ends up being $.49 a box which is a pretty good deal on it's own. I was able to print 4 $.75 off coupons from the internet and then had another 16 $.20 off coupons that doubled to $.40 off so my total for all 20 boxes was a whopping $.40. This should hopefully last us until the end of the year.  I won't bore you with a picture of the 24 bags of shredded cheese I bought on Sunday, my freezer is pretty full right now.

Grocery Shopping

I was so excited to see the Kroger flyer in Sunday's paper. They are having one of their Mega sales again where if you buy 10 participating items you instantly get $5 off your total. I dropped Lily off at school this morning and Hannah and I headed to the store. I got:

Photobucket

5 Finish Dishwasher geltabs
3 boxes of Jell-o
5 kraft shredded cheese bags
2 Quaker boxes of granola bars
2 Rotel Tomatoes
4 Kraft Mac and cheese
4 Quaker Quakes rice snacks
4 boxes of Wheat Thins
2 boxes fruit snacks

I bought 30 participating items so $15 came off my total and then after my coupons I ended up paying $12.50 for all that.

Grocery shopping

Doesn't everyone want to see what I bought at the grocery store this monring? I love grocery shopping...ok, I love any type of shopping and it is even more fun for me when I can save money doing it. Kroger is having one of their Mega Sales (buy 10 items on list and save $5 instantly) so Lily, Hannah, and I made a quick run to pick up some things. The only things I bought that weren't part of the sale were the hamburger buns, milk, and baby food. I got a total of 28 items and the full retail cost was $65.80, I used my Kroger member card and coupons and only spent $21.32, total savings of $44.48 (68%). It doesn't always work out this good but I love it when I save more than I spend.
