Mom of the Year Award

This year's award goes to my mom! Remember my post about how my mom and I went to see Julie & Julia and now I wanted Julia Child's cookbook. This arrived in my mail this week

This is both volumes I had been looking at on Amazon all in one book and I am so excited to start cooking. Colin on the other hand is not so excited and has already told me that he will not be eating anything that comes from this book. I offered to make my mom some aspic the next time she and my dad visit but she didn't seem real excited about my offer. I think I am going to browse my way through the book and pick one recipe from each section to try first. I will of course post pictures and updates of my progress but instead of one a day like Julia I was thinking more along the lines of 1 or 2 a month. I'm hoping to get a chance to start going through my new treasure this week and pick my first couple recipes.

Have you seen this movie? I went to see it this fall with my mom and we both liked it. Colin of course wanted nothing to do with it so while my parents were visiting Mom and I left the girls with the men and headed out. I thought it was a cute funny movie but think Colin made a wise decision to stay home, this was definately not his kind of movie. The only problem is I have a slight cook book obsession and now I really want Julia Child's cookbook. As much as I love to get a new cookbook and go through it page by page I rarely actually use them. So for now I shall continue to simply gaze longingly at Julia's book on Amazon.
