Can I get some of that to go?

I took Lily back to the dentist last week for a second try and getting a couple cavities filled.  The first attempt didn't go so well and they only got half of one done before she wouldn't even let the dentist near her anymore.  They said they gave her the same medicine to "make her a little woozy" this time but I am wondering if they gave her more or something.  Instead of taking 20 minutes to start working she was out of it in less than 5.  She kept trying to talk to another woman in the waiting room thinking she was grandma and then proceeded to pass out on my lap.  They took her back and had her cavities done in no time.  One of the nurses had to carry her out to the car because she was still sleeping and I had C.J. with me too.  I got home and laid her down on colin's recliner and there she stayed sleeping for a good 4 hours.

Both of the girls will be home all week for Spring Break and I am now thinking I should have asked (or begged) the dentist to slip me a little extra of that medicine in a to go bag.

And not my proudest mommy moment but Lily didn't want to drink the medicine and after a few minutes of crying and refusing I told her if she didn't drink it we would have to go back to the doctor's office for them to give it to her.  After her visit there just two days ago the shots were still quite fresh in her memory and she just naturally assumed that is how they would give it to her.  She drank it right down after that.

Oh the drama!

I took Lily to the doctor this morning for a physical and it did not go well.  She hasn't had to get a shot the last couple years but got two today and a finger stick so they could take blood.  I think it's safe to say she cried longer and louder than Charlotte did when she got her last shot.  And the blood, she said she doesn't ever want to see her blood again and the doctor hurt her feelings.  Thankfully they said she won't need shots again until she's 11.

One of the reasons we went to get a physical is for Kindergarten registration on the 19th which is when I will have my break down with just as many tears if not more.

My Lily

I was sitting with the girls while they ate dinner the other night and Lily was hamming it up so I got the camera out and took some pictures.  She got a new pair of sunglasses and didn't want to take them off even when she was inside.

Lily's Love

Ok, so I meant to post this awhile ago but got a little sidetracked.  Anyways, back in April some friend's of Colin's from college came for a visit.  They used to live in Richmond at one point but have moved back to California.  They have two sons Logan and Dominic.  Logan walked in the door and immediately introduced himself to Lily and they hit it off right away.  The second day they were here we went to the park and the kids had a great time.  Lily had a lot of fun with Logan and really misses him but hopefully she will get to see him again some time.

Lily's 4th Birthday

I'm still having a hard time believing it but Lily turned 4 on Sunday.  She decided she wanted to have a Rapunzel party and this was also the first year we invited her friends from preschool.  We invited the 8 girls from her class and I figured that since it was Mother's Day that we would probably only have a couple that could come......I was wrong, 6 of the 8 invited were able to make it to the party.  I did my best to make a Rapunzel cupcake tower and we decorated paper laterns for an activity.  It seemed liked they had lots of fun and I know Lily had a great day

She got lots of great presents including her first bike, a giant Tiger, some barbie, Dora, and My Little Pony toys that she and Hannah have been fighting over non stop since.

I'm So Stylish

Yes, that is exactly what this child said to me while wearing this outfit. I asked if I could take a picture and she said "sure" and proudly posed for me.
Photobucket

It saddens and amazes me every day how old she is getting.  Just looking at this picture I can't believe she is almost 4, but at the same time I love our conversations and how they've changed the older she gets.

Dr. Seuss

I bought this Cat in The Hat outfit for Lily over a year ago and she loves it.  The two small pictures on the right are from last fall when she first got it and the big picture on the left is from last week.  I had to get in touch with April again and ask if she could make another shirt because the first one had gotten to small but the skirt still fit.  Lily was so excited when the new shirt came and she could wear her skirt again.

April makes lots of beautiful childrens clothes if you want to check out her etsy shop.

My Cinderella

Colin was cleaning out some files this weekend and shredded a bunch of old papers.  On Monday Lily was upstairs playing and I went to check on her and she had gotten into the shredded paper.  There were maybe a couple of toddler sized hand fulls of paper in a two foot by two foot area on the carpet.  I was not happy and told her she needed to clean up the mess.  I went back to check on her 10 minutes later and she had gone from two hand fulls to the entire bin of shredded paper ALL OVER the entire room.

Now I really wasn't happy and neither was she when I informed her that she would be cleaning up the whole mess on her own with no help from me.

I again went back to check on her to see how she was doing and it looked like she had barely touched it.  She spent the rest of the night picking up all the paper and eventually Colin took a little pitty on her and let her finish up using the vacuum.

Taco Night

My girls, they are so similar in many ways yet so different in others.  One of their big differences comes in their eating habits.  Lily gets pickier by the day and I can count on two hands the number of meals she will actually eat.  Hannah is a human garbage disposal and I've recently dubbed her Three Helping Hannah, there are very few things she won't eat.  I love taco nights simply because it is one of the very few meals everyone will eat.  Lily eats hers plain, Taco meat in a bowl and scoops it up with tortilla chips.  My Hannah though, she likes it all, I pile hers with a little meat and add spanish rice, black beans, sour cram, and anything else I am having on mine.  The first thing she does is pick out the black beans and eat them and then the rest.  On special nights where everyone actually cleans their plates the girls are rewarded with a special dessert of ice cream.

Just a little heart attack

On Friday night Colin went to put Lily to bed and she was none too thrilled so he said she could lay down in our bed with him.  I was in the bonus room which is right off of our bedroom and figured they'd be in there for about 20 minutes before either Lily fell asleep and Colin got back up or Colin got tired of Lily's tossing and turning and put her in her own room.  I heard nothing.  I went to bed almost two hours later and when I walked into the room Colin rolled over and sleepily asked me if I had put Lily in her room.  I paused and said no, why would I.  Apparently he heard her get up from the bed and figured she had come to find me.  She does this quite often but I wasn't down stairs like I normally am so I figured maybe she went down there and layed down on the couch when I wasn't there.  I went down stairs and nothing, no Lily.  I thought maybe she went to her own room when she saw I wasn't down stairs, nope, her room was empty.  At this point I was starting to freak out especially since she knows how to unlock the dead bolt on the front door.  I went back into our bedroom and turned on the bathroom light and told Colin he needed to get up and start looking.  That is when I looked down at the floor at the foot of the bed and there she was.  Sound asleep sprawled out on the floor.  It looked like she had started to sneak out of the room and made it about half way, and I am guessing Colin must have rolled over or made some sort of sound that made her freeze and she just fell asleep where she was.

What's wrong with this picture?

My brother got Lily the Fisher Price My First Doll House for Christmas a couple years ago and she still plays with it quite often. Tonight she asked if I would play house with her. She said that Mommy and Grandma wanted to have a tea party. Only problem is since the day we opened the doll house we have only been able to find one of the chairs that goes with the table. I suggest that Mommy could stand but Lily had another idea, she put Mommy on the potty and scooted her right up to the table. Now if only I could get Lily to sit on the potty.

Shopping with Lily

I have been looking for one or two casual every day dresses for this summer and wasn't having much luck.  I stopped in Ann Taylor Loft the other day and they happened to have a few styles on sale so I tried some on and found two I really liked.  I had the girls with me and Lily was getting a little antsy in the fitting room and wanted to try one on too so I put one on her.  She fell in love!  I tied the straps  in the back so she wouldn't step on it and she just kept checking herself out in the mirror.  Then of course she didn't want to take it off but I was going to buy it so I let her walk out into the store with it on.  She started walking for the door and I said no, we had to pay for it.  She didn't like that and took off running for the door.  I didn't catch up with her until she got out of the store so of course she sets off the alarms and everyone is now starring at us.  Lily is just laughing away as I carry her back into the store and luckily the sales lady's saw some humor in it and were laughing too.  I bribed her with a lollipop to get the dress off, paid for it, and we promptly left the mall.  As soon as we got home she wanted to put "her" dress back on.

What a Beautiful Day!

It is finally starting to feel like Spring around here so we took advantage of the beautiful weather and spent a couple hours outside today. Lily had lots of fun running around the yard and playing on the swing set. Once Hannah got up from her nap I brought her outside too and she was having fun on the swing too. Please ignore Lily's dirty face, she wouldn't stand still long enough for me to clean her up.

Pigtails......an evolution

It has taken 2 1/2 years but Lily finally has enough hair for me to do something with it. I started a few weeks ago just kind of playing around and this was the result...

Photobucket

Then, a couple weeks later I discovered that if I let her wash her hands (ok, really she's just playing with water in the sink) I can fix her hair without her squirming all over the place and it turned out much better. Yes, she's wearing the same pajamas but I swear it wasn't the same night.

Photobucket

Last, this was Monday. I think she looks so cute.

Photobucket

The back isn't quite long enough to stay in the pigtails so I just put the front half up for now. It keeps it out of her eyes since I don't want to cut it and give her bangs. She will also leave it most of the day too.

And oh, the bows, how I LOVE the bows. I will have to take a picture of how many we have now and I still want more. I need to keep a list of the colors and color combinations we don't have so I can remember when I get around to ordering more.

Adam Lambert sighting

I am the first to admit that I am not a big American Idol fan, in fact I can count how many epsides I've actually seen on one hand. Lily's hair has finally gotten long enough to start putting up in pig tails and pony tails and she will actually leave it in for most of the day. So back to Adam Lambert, she pulled out her pony tail tonight and I did a double take.......

The Princess

Lily has a new found love of anything princess. She watch The Little Mermaid for 10 hours straight on our drive back home from Connecticut. She can also sing parts of the songs from Cinderella and Snow White she has seen them so many times. I think that she is starting to believe that she actually is a princess. One of her Christmas presents was some dress up outfits that she immediately fell in love with. We had a hard time getting her to take off the princess dresses so that we could change her clothes. The other night we were going to go out to dinner but I wouldn't let her wear the princess dress so she voted for take out instead.

Opening presents on Christmas eve wearing one of her dresses already, it was one of the first things she opened so most of our pictures look like this. She is also opening the Disney Princess TV Uncle Drew got for her.

The next day wearing a different princess dress, same pajamas underneath.

Blizzard '09

I am a little late on this one since this was a couple weeks ago but there is just a tiny bit of the snow left on the ground in some places so I think I am doing ok. This was our front yard right before we left for Connecticut before Christmas. Lily could not wait to get out in the snow and play. Colin on the other hand couldn't wait to come back inside. He was frozen and Lily was perfectly fine other than some red cheecks. The snow was 6-9 inches deep and she could barely move in it especially since she had A LOT of layers on. We don't buy snow pants let alone snow boots since events like this don't happen often around here so she had a pair of leggings and two pairs of fleece pants on and her green frog rain boots.

The Other Day

Just a couple recent pictures I loved that I wanted to share.

Conversations with Lily

The rule in our house is Colin does the baths for the girls since he's the one that taught Lily how to splash. Tonight he gave Hannah her bath and handed her off to me to get her pj's on. I was sitting down stairs with her while she had a bottle before bed and Colin was upstairs giving Lily her bath. This is what I heard:

Lily: What you want daddy?
Colin: What do I want, World Peace
Lily: Lily have world peace too?
Colin: Yes, you can have world peace too
Colin: NO! Don't put that there!

I guess world peace will have to wait a little longer.

The Toy Book

Lily is gearing up for Christmas too! We got the Toys R Us toy book and the Target toy book in the mail this week and as soon as she saw them she sat right down and went through them page by page. I couldn't believe how intently she was looking at the pages, it was so cute I had to take a picture.
