She strikes again....

and this time I was lucky enough to be there. So the other night I decided to give Colin a break and I gave Lily her bath. This usually is a "daddy job" because daddy is the one who taught Lily how to splash and she's very good at it. So after her bath she takes off running naked down the hall and into her room. I waddled after her and she was of course hiding in her closet. I am getting out a clean diaper and pajamas when all of a sudden I hear a tinkling sound. I go over to the closet and there she is once again peeing in the same corner. We've been telling her for months that there is a baby in my belly trying to get her used to prepare her as much as you can for an 18 month old so I am thinking maybe she's marking her territory?

Not in the closet!

Sorry no pictures to go with this one but I did not actually witness "the event". We moved Lily into her new big girl room a couple weeks ago and she loves it. Colin hasn't had a chance to paint her closet doors yet so they are sitting in the hall and not on the closet. I put one of those hanging shoe organizers in there and it blocks off the last couple feet of closet space. This makes a perfect Lily sized hiding spot and she loves to go running back there and stick her head out and say "boo". After her bath the other night Colin brought her into her room to get dressed and she went straight for the closet. I guess as he was getting her diaper and pajamas out he heard a little tinkling sound and out of the closet came Lily leaving a little trail and puddle behind. He quickly put on her diaper and brought her to me and asked where the spray stuff we use when the dog has an accident is.

34 weeks.....or so

Well the doctor can't really seem to decide on a due date for Deuce so we are estimating I am at about 34 weeks now. Hopefully we'll have a better idea when we go in for one last ultrasound on Dec. 18th.

Hop on Pop

Colin sat on the floor the other night to stretch out a little and apparently Lily thought he would make a great jungle gym. She went running right over to him and started to climb on. She thought he was the greatest toy!

Lily's Hat

Before Halloween Lily and I were at the craft store and this is one place that for some reason she really dislikes, probably because I could spend hours just walking up and down the aisles. They had pumpkin buckets for $.99 so I gave her one to keep her from screaming in the store. Since the day we brought the thing home she has loved to put it on her head and walk around the house. I guess she can see through it because she doesn't run into anything and Colin undid the strap on one side so she wouldn't choke herself. Tomorrow is December 1st and I still can't bring myself to put the thing away with the rest of the Halloween/Fall decorations because she likes it so much, she even calls it her "hat".

Black Friday Shopping

Yes, Lily and I braved all the crazies and went shopping on Black Friday. We had a mission and we accomplished it. Lily is not a fan of her highchair and likes to stand up in it and has now started to crawl out onto the tray. We have tried buckling her in but she somehow manages to get out of them. I have been afraid that she is going to flip the highchair over when she climbs onto the tray and although I do watch her my reflexes are not so fast these days. So, Friday morning at 6:30 we ventured out to Babies R Us in search of a booster seat for the kitchen table and luckily we got the second to last one they had on sale. Does she look like such a big girl now.

Lily's first shiner

The inevitable happened on Thusday night. Lily leaned over to pick up a toy and banged the side of her face on the corner of the coffee table. We were those over protective parents that had the foam barriers over all objects in their home until Lily took tem all off so she hit the side of her face right below her eye right on the wooden coffee table. I meant to take a picture the next day but keep forgetting but it's still there so hopefully tomorrow. It was never really too bad and was contained to just under her eye but after 4 fulls days it is still visible. The one good thing to come of this is at least we had taken her Christmas pictures that morning before the incident occurred so they turned out beautifully.

Oooops......MAMA

Part of our living room is kind of sectioned off by the furniture. This creates some separattion from Lily's toy area and the rest of the living space. When she's over there you can see her from pretty much anywhere in the room unless she is right in front of the toy basket which is blocked by my big chair. Well she was playing happily and all of a sudden I hear a thud and she starts to cry a little. It wasn't a big cry so I wasn't too worried but of course she was blocked by the chair so I couldn't see her. I just waited a minute and said you're ok. If you have ever seen Lily walk you have then seen her fall because she does it on purpose all the time just so she can say her favorite phrase "oops". She kept crying a little but again she really didn't sound hurt. Finally being the loving mother I am I get up to check on her and this is what I find.

I once again being the loving mother I am ran to get the camera because she of course was stuck and couldn't get up. As you an see from her outfit this did not happen recently (t-shirt and capris) but I just got the pictures from my camera downloaded and had forgotten all about these. She was perfectly fine and was content to play with the cow until I finished my picture taking.

Crockpot cooking

You may have noticed that there are quite a few blogs over there on the right side of the screen and yes I do read them all. I have become a bit obsessed lately and find it very interesting to see what others are doing. I have just added a new one. This one I think is really interesting. Do you have a crockpot? Well this lady does and she is using it every day for 365 days (1 year). Some of the recipes look rather unique but there are quite a few I think I would like to try. I am really excited about the recipe for making your own yogurt in the crockpot. Lily absolutely loves her yogurt and I have found that it is easier to make her fruit smoothies with it rather than clean up the gigantic mess she makes when eating it out of the cup. So, we have been going through a ton of it lately and I have been reading about and checking out some yogurt makers but wasn't sure if we'd use it enough or I'd just get lazy and go back to buying it. I've already got a crockpot though so can't wait to give it a try.

My Houdini

Photobucket
Photobucket
This morning when I heard Lily wake up this is what I found when I went into her room. She has a bunch of stuffed animals in her crib and normally she will just throw them all on the floor but this morning she had another surprise for me. She had somehow managed to get her pajamas off too. They are the one piece footy zip up pajamas that even have the little snap across the top of the zipper. She also managed to somehow get some of the dirty laundry out of her hamper and throw that on the floor too. At least she kept her diaper on though because it also contained a surprise for me.

I made food!

I found a craft website/forum that had a post from a lady that made a bunch of felt playfood for her kids. She had uploaded some pictures and I couldn't believe all of the different kinds of food she had made and how amazing they looked. Then I started to think that maybe Lily would like some play food too and of course this got my crafty mind wondering if perhaps even I could make this play food. Well it turns out I can at least make eggs out of felt. This was my first attempt and didn't even take me very long. I started with a flat foot as I thought this would be easiest and will hopefully move onto some of the more difficult/intricate looking foods as I go.

Here are my eggs.

Pumkin Picking

On Monday Colin took a half day off of work and we took Lily to the Chesterfield Berry Farm to go Pumpkin Picking. She fell asleep in the car so she wasn't quite sure what was going on when we first got there but once she realized she could run around in the dirt and bang on the pumpkins she was good to go. I thought it was going to be a lovely fall day and the temperature was reading 74 degrees however, it felt a lot closer to 94 degrees, we were a little over dressed but had lots of fun anyways.

Autumn has arrived!

It was a beautiful fall day today, low 60's and lots of sunshine to make it feel a little warmer. I got in the Halloween spirit and dressed Lily accordingly this morning. Then we went outside and played in the front yard for a little while. She found an acorn that she carried around the whole time.

The Mohawk

I know I have a duaghter but I still have always wanted to give her a mohawk, a for real shave her head mohawk. I came very close right around her first bithday but didn't do it. So a couple weeks ago she woke up from her nap with some major bed head and when I was wetting it down I got this major urge to spike her hair. It worked! I just used water and it dried and actually stayed this way for quite awhile. I couldn't stop laughing every time I looked at her.

Professional Traveler

We flew to Connecticut the first week of September to go to a wedding and visit with my mom and dad. This was actually Lily's third plane trip and she is a pro, she doesn't even blink during take off. As long as we have a plentiful supply of fruit snacks and daddy's lap top to play dvd's we are all set. I put togethere a little slide show so this post wouldn't be total picture overload.

Little Miss Independent

We have reached the point where Lily does not like to be fed anymore. She has actually gotten pretty good with a fork but we have not quite mastered the spoon yet.

Lily's favorite, yogurt!
We have learned that the best thing to do is take off her shirt, put on the bib, put a dish towel on her lap, and just let her go to town. She's much happier, it keeps her occupied for a little while, and makes for slightly more clean up when she's done.

Napping

Lily normally goes down for her afternoon nap between 1:30 and 2:00 every day. Well, this passed week we had someone doing some work in the house, we are remodeling our master bathroom, and he was here all day. He was also making quite a bit of noise pounding and hammering so there wasn't much hope for Lily's afternoon nap. She actually wasn't too cranky as long as I let her do whatever she wanted. However, this is what happened when I put her in her high chair for dinner. Apparently it was quite comfy and she just couldn't keep her eyes open any more. It was honestly one of the quietest and calmest dinners Colin and I have had in quite a long time.

Photobucket

Please excuse the dirty, food crusted high chair seat. Apparently I did not read enough when we bought the high chair and just picked out the pretty one and of course I got one that you CAN NOT put the cover in the washer. Not my greatest move.

I'm a grown up

It has only taken a year and a half but I have finally picked out some window coverings for the living room and asked Colin to hang them this passed weekend. I am really liking how they look with the color of the walls and couch. Now I am thinking I need to find some material with the same red in it to make some more pillows.

Arts & Crafts

Last week I was looking over some home decorating blogs and found this little project. Mine was not quite the same as the one I saw posted but it was easy for me to do and didn't take long to finish. The one I saw used wooden letters and a separte frame for each letter. I figured for my first try I'd go simple. I just cut the paper to fit the size of the picture openings and used a craft glue stick to glue the letters on.

My new love

A friend recently raved about the wonderful and refreshing qualities of this remarkable drink. I have had regular Fresca before so the other day when I was at the store and saw the Peach Citrus flavor she raved about I thought I'd give it a try. I LOVE IT! Normally I drink diet coke but I just can't stop drinking this. What's also great about it is that it's still a Coke product so I still get my rewards points and can use my coupons when buying it. It is also caffeine free which is better for me right now too. I have now been able to cut back to one Diet Coke a day.

Morning Sickness

or all day sickness, I had both during my first trimester. I am feeling a lot better now but really struggled some mornings. For those mornings I was having a really hard time this is what breakfast looked like at our house. Lily got some cheerios in her snack trap (the greatest invention for little kids), a sippy cup of milk, and her favorite show, Jack's Big Music Show. I felt like a bad mom for letting her watch tv until I felt better but I don't think she minded too much.

She Walks

So I am once again a little behind on my blog by about a month or so, so I will do my best to try and catch up. First, it was about a month ago near the end of August and I was sitting in my living room talking to my mom on the phone when all of a sudden I looked up and Lily was walking across the room all by herself. I couldn't believe it and I kept whispering to my mom on the phone that she was walking. Now this isn't all that new as she was almost 16 months old and had been walking if you held her hand or if she could hold onto the furniture but it was the first time she walked all by herself without holding onto anything. Later that night we got her on video doing it and now of course it is non stop everywhere we go she wants to walk.

Sew Crafty

I made a Halloween outfit for Lily and although I think it turned out pretty good I think I did every step the hardest way possible but have hopefully found an easier way for next time. Next time may also be pretty soon since I tried this on her today and it fit pretty good so if she grows too much I may be making another one. I tried to get a picture of her actually wearing it but she was incredibly cranky after her nap this afternoon and was having none of it.

New addition

I seemed to have forgotten another piece of news. Our family will be expanding and Lily will be getting a new baby sister some time in the beginning of January. We have been pointing to my belly and tell her there is a baby in there but I'm not sure she really understands, she just likes to play with my belly button. She will give my belly a kiss though if I ask her to.

Virginia Beach

I have been very bad about updating lately and will try and be better. I've got a few things to cathc up on to get this up to date. First, we decided to pack up the car and head down to Virginia Beach a few weeks ago just for the weekend to visit Lovey. Lily had a great time. She wasn't too sure about the water but liked it once Colin took her out a little farther so the waves didn't crash on her. She also was a little leary of the sand and was ok one minute and not ok the next. The condo also has a pool so we brought her floaty and she had a ton of fun there.

We have cherries!

We finishes canning all of our cherries and ended up with 14 quart size jars. It turns out that Lily LOVES cherries so between me and her we should be able to to eat them all before next summer.

Meet Baby

One of Lily's favorite words is baby. If she sees her reflection or a picture of herself she points and says baby. If we see a baby in the store or even small children she always points and says baby. So I figured it was time to get her her own baby. Lily and I took a trip to the store and picked out a baby for her and Lily loves her and of course we named her Baby.

Suzy Home Maker

This is how I feel today. My mom always canned cherries when I was little and still does now, just not as many, so I decided that I wanted to can some of my own. Lily and I took a trip to the local hardware store the other day to purchase a water bath canner and this morning we bought a whole bunch of cherries. I just finsihed the first 7 jars but I guess I bought too many cherries because we are out of jars so I guess we will be going to the store tomorrow for more jars. I have been trying to think of some other things we can can too. Maybe next summer we will take a trip to a local strawberry farm and pick our own and see if we can find some other yummy stuff to can.

It's official

Well we took a family trip to the doctor's office yesterday morning and baby Robinson #2 is due on January 1, 2009. We got to hear the hearbeat but it was hard to find as the baby was trying to hide from the doctor. Colin is afraid that it is another girl because the heartbeat was 160 and faster heartbeats are supposed to mean it's a girl. We will find out for sure whethere it is a girl or boy on August 19th.

Mommy's Little Helper

One of Lily's favorite things is to "help" me with the laundry. Her idea of helping however is to pull all of the clean clothes out of the laundry basket and throw them on the floor.

Lily wears no pants

As you may have noticed from the pictures I've posted in my blog Lily is not wearing pants. In the beginning of April I just got to the point where I couldn't stand the stinky diapers anymore so I decided to try cloth diapers. It has been 4 weeks since I switched and I am loving it! Even Colin will change them. There have been a lot of changes in the cloth diaper world since my mom used them on my brother and I but somethings are still the same. There are a few different types and some work just like disposable diapers, so easy. Anyways, Lily doesn't wear pants a lot around the house because with the cloth diapers I either don't even bother to put a cover on her so I know when she is wet or I put wool or fleece over the diaper that keeps moisture in the diaper and stays dry on the outside.

Lily's First 1st Birthday Present

Lily turns 1 next Thursday (May 8th) and this is her present from Uncle Drew. We let her open it a little early. She loves it! She will ride around on it all by herself, pushing herself back and forth across the living room. Maybe next year uncle Drew could spring for a present that has a volume control button.

Photobucket

Lily's thinking spot

Everyone says that there is no need to get gifts for children because all they play with is the box. Well Lily doesn't even need boxes, she is happy with the dog crate. Every day at least once a day she climbs into Buddy's crate and brings a toy or book with her and will sit and play happily in there for at least 15 min. At first I thought it wasn't a good idea and kept getting her out but she would just go right back in.

Photobucket

Day One

I decided to jump on the band wagon so everyone can see how Lily and I spend all of our free time during the day. Stay tuned for some fun and exciting posts.
