Payback!

This is my payback for getting little to no sleep for the last couple months.  I can't help myself, I am a sucker for cute hats like this to go with outfits.

I am sure one day she will hate me for this but she sure is cute in it.

What's For Dinner?

Colin will be late tonight so that means breakfast for dinner for the girls and I.  I saw a recipe online the other day for sticky buns and had been thinking about them ever since.  We do cinnamon rolls a lot but I don't think the girls have ever had a sticky bun before......they loved them.  Then we always do pancakes on these nights so I had to make a batch of those too.  I also only used half the dough I made for the sticky buns so I decided to make a loaf of cinnamon swirl bread too.

For the buns and bread I just used my normal pizza dough recipe but added a little cinnamon and honey to it to make it a little sweeter.  For the pancakes I cheat and use a mix but added some flax meal and some vanila extract.

We had plenty left over so the pancakes went into the freezer for breakfast on the weekend.  We will eat the cinnamon bread for snack the next couple days.  I am trying to bake more so we are not buying a lot of processed snacks.  The rest of the sticky buns will be heated up tomorrow for breakfast.

That Face!

Judging by the look on her face you think she takes her Easter egg hunts seriously?

The top picture is from last year and the bottom is this year.

Pinterest - Cinnamon Sugar Bread

I have TONS of stuff pinned on pinterest and decided I should actually try some of these projects and recipes out.

With the baby I don't have a whole lot of time since she doesn't like to be put down even when she's sleeping so I went with something on the easy side.  Lily has been asking for cinnamon rolls but we don't have any and no time for dough to rise so I decided to try this Cinnamon Sugar Bread.  We had a little taste test tonight and it's pretty good.  Next time though I will either cut back on the amount of sugar in the middle or split it and do a second layer instead of the one.

Muffin Tin Monday......sort of

The girls are home for Spring Break this week so I am trying to keep them somewhat entertained.  I thought we would do a muffin tin lunch today but I haven't done it in so long I need to get a second tin.  I used silicone reusable muffin cups on a plate instead and they were both pretty excited when they saw them.

Lily's excitement lasted long enough for her to eat the cheese out of one cup and that's it while Hannah polished off all of hers and then some of Lily's.

Can I get some of that to go?

I took Lily back to the dentist last week for a second try and getting a couple cavities filled.  The first attempt didn't go so well and they only got half of one done before she wouldn't even let the dentist near her anymore.  They said they gave her the same medicine to "make her a little woozy" this time but I am wondering if they gave her more or something.  Instead of taking 20 minutes to start working she was out of it in less than 5.  She kept trying to talk to another woman in the waiting room thinking she was grandma and then proceeded to pass out on my lap.  They took her back and had her cavities done in no time.  One of the nurses had to carry her out to the car because she was still sleeping and I had C.J. with me too.  I got home and laid her down on colin's recliner and there she stayed sleeping for a good 4 hours.

Both of the girls will be home all week for Spring Break and I am now thinking I should have asked (or begged) the dentist to slip me a little extra of that medicine in a to go bag.

And not my proudest mommy moment but Lily didn't want to drink the medicine and after a few minutes of crying and refusing I told her if she didn't drink it we would have to go back to the doctor's office for them to give it to her.  After her visit there just two days ago the shots were still quite fresh in her memory and she just naturally assumed that is how they would give it to her.  She drank it right down after that.

Oh the drama!

I took Lily to the doctor this morning for a physical and it did not go well.  She hasn't had to get a shot the last couple years but got two today and a finger stick so they could take blood.  I think it's safe to say she cried longer and louder than Charlotte did when she got her last shot.  And the blood, she said she doesn't ever want to see her blood again and the doctor hurt her feelings.  Thankfully they said she won't need shots again until she's 11.

One of the reasons we went to get a physical is for Kindergarten registration on the 19th which is when I will have my break down with just as many tears if not more.
